MEET JOHNNY AND...............

Johnny Goldfinger is a close friend of my grandson, Andy. He is a working partner.  I think they make a good match, because Andy gets alittle bit of his own medicine!

We spent our Labor Day weekend at Andy's 2nd Oklahoma Foundation Quarter Horse Registry show.

John M. is Andy's mentor. He is a great person.
I am so thankful that he has such influence on Andy.

We also cheered for Colton.

Eveyone had a really long weekend!

A really, really long weekend!

But the kids seemed to have a good time!

Even the smaller ones.

Andy and Johnny had a good time,
even tho' he was Andy's hat rack!

And the dogs had to show off alittle bit.

They look good together don't they?

Andy, I am very proud of you!  This shows me that you can do whatever you set your mind to!
Love,
   Omah

Wise Woman Changes Her Mind, A Fool Never Does

After the big issue over the church job.  I have applied for it.  I passed the first time.  It has weighed on my mind for weeks.  Then I found out the position was open again.  I feel like that has been a message to me.

I know that I will have to make a few sacrifices.  I enjoy being with "my honey", and camping during the week.  But I will have a better feeling about myself if I do this.

The interview hopefully will be soon.  So, I do not the job yet.  I hope I can do more blogging soon.  My desktop is sick with a virus and is in the hospital.  Maybe this week it will come home.  This laptop is driving me crazy.

Love to you all.  Back with you soon!

Ladies Trip to Ponca City.............

The ladies group from my church invited my to tag along on a trip to Ponca City.
First stop.............

The 55-room Italian Renaissance mansion, thirty acres of beautiful vista and gardens.
Marland Estate Mansion.

In the courtyard to greet us is The Whittler.

The mansion is about 43,561 square feet spread over 4 levels.  55 rooms,
including 10 bedrooms, 7 fireplaces, and 3 kitchens.  The ballroom will accommodate 300 people.
The room is crowned with a ceiling covered in gold leaf.  To replace the ceiling and the Waterford crystal chandeliers today would cost $2 million.

This is the converted coach house where E.W. Marland  (1874-1941) and
Lydie (Roberts) Marland (1900-1987) resided when they died.
Lydie was first wife, Virginia Marland's(1876-1926) sister's daughter.
The Marland's had adopted Lydie and brother George (1897-1957) in 1916.
Two years after Virginia's death, E.W. had the adoption of Lydie annulled
and she became his second wife on July 14, 1928.

Then, off to enjoy the beautiful Lester and Mary Cann Memorial Gardens.

In the court yard is this hugh tree.  This is the site for many social events.

The flowers were absolutely gorgeous!

Even the garden cat was laid back in the cool of the shade.

Last stop, Standing Bear Museum and Education Center.  A place where
Kaw, Osage, Otoe-Missouria, Pawnee, Ponca and Tonkawa Indian tribes come together
to honor Standing Bear Ponca chief.

The artwork is amazing.

Where have you traveled to in our Great State of Oklahoma?

Good Things Take Alittle Longer

Another Fourth of July has come and gone. But the hot weather has remained.
altho' it has been the coolest fourth since 1997.

Family grilled hot dogs.  Nana made homemade ice cream and Juli and Mike brought water melon. Everyone ate way too much.

Before the church service today I found out the secretary position is coming open.  This time last year, I really wanted this job.  I would never a second thought about applying for it! I have dreamed about this little gem of a job.  Good hours, part time, off holidays and would be serving the church in a small way.  The pay is not to good, but after all it was our little church.

Then, here it is.  If all went well I would be learning a new job!  Wait a minute...................

I have had to make a decision.  Work at church or spend time with "my honey".

Since he retired, we have this drop what you're doing and take a road trip attitude. That means we go camping during the week when there is no families around, just other ole farts.

But that is not my real reason for letting this jewel of a job go. Since we have both been married before, we have never had that "honeymoon" time with each other.  It has been kinda a honeymoon since he retired.

For those of you who know us, know about "my honey" and his troubles.  I know that his time on earth is borrowed time and I have not had enough time with him yet.  He is my soul mate. Even if we never leave this house, and I watch him hitting golf balls from the living room window, I will be thrilled.

People see just a hard working man that looks like he has been rode hard and put away wet, which in many ways he has. But he picked up being a father to my daughters when bio Dad shut them out and put my life back together.  Had many hospital stays and the mid 60's.

After many prayers and lots of tears the past couple of days, the job will have to wait.  I will be spending all my time as having fun with "my honey" and holding his hand when he is having one of his blah-saze days.

Meet The Breyers

I enjoy collecting Breyer Traditional horse models.  On RV outings we like to look at junk stores. That's what "my Honey" calls them.  I thought I would post a few of my very favorites, which is hard to do, cause I love all of them.

This fetish started back in the 70's when a Rainbo Baking Company bigwig here in Oklahoma City, gave my daughter Juli a Breyer model.  She was just becoming horse crazy.  This gal loves horses.  This man picked up on this and he gave her every copy of Western Horseman that he received along with these old horse models.  These models are a cherished part of her life to this day.

Then when Andy came along, I began getting models for him.  He has quite a collection himself.  He tells me he wants to inherit my collection.  He will just have to work that out with his Aunt Juli.

I like the models that tell a story.  As I go along you will  hopefully understand why I love them so much.

This is Susecion and Le Fire
Susecion is the only Arabian Hall of Fame mare to produce two double National Championship mares and a son who sired a National Championship mare.  Purchased for a mere $2500 by owners Dr. Fred and Florence Ragland, this grey mare went on to produce 13 offspring, one of which included her *Bask son Le Fire, a chestnut stallion foaled in 1075, whose destiny was to produce champions.  They are shown here as they were in 1975, a young mare and her foal.

THE FULL STORY:
In the summer of '66, the late Dr. Fred Ragland and his wife Florance drove to a Lakeside, California
ranch that had advertised three Arabian mares for sale.  The three mares turned out to be a ten-year-old chestnut mare and her two daughters, a four-year-old chestnut and a grey yearling.
Captivated by the yearling, the Raglands wrote the $2,500 check and left with a filly destined to make breed history:  Susecion became the only Arabian Hall of Fame mare to produce two double National Champion Mares and a son who sired a National Champion Mare.  Susecion(Corsair x Cancion de los Vientos by Douban) was Raglands' first Arabian and their first venture into "horse breeding."  They opted to use "Susie" as a broodmare, and after studying the advertised stallions, the Raglands decided on a stunning stallion, *Bask,  In 1975, Susecion delivered her fifth foal by *Bask, a chestnut colt they name Le Fire.  Like his mother, Le Fire's get is a venerable 'Who's Who' of Arabian Nationals' and Canadian Nationals' winners in diverse divisions such as halter, dressage, hunter pleasure, and reining.  As a three-year-old, Le Fire successfully showed in halter and pleasure driving before and injury ended his career.  Le Fire happily lived out his life with Sue Evans in California, and his best friend and stall-mate, Hillary, a pot-bellied pig.
